Tripod vs Handheld video usage

Instead of having us use handheld videos, we decided to use a tripod which can stabilize our movie and make it look like a real movie. We tried to shoot a handheld video vs a tripod video. The handheld video was nice but it wasn't how the tripod did it.

Lighting

The lighting I decided to use would be the sunlight since my movie is outside. The ideal lighting could be the sun going down. Since most high school games are on Friday Nights at 7PM

Shooting First scene

The first scene shooting was kind of hectic but fun because it was my first time seeing an actual movie being shot instead of watching it, or so I thought, it felt realistic. I actually felt like I was in an actual set watching everything go down. When we finished I went over everything, since I am the editor, and everything looked good

Mastering 180 degree rule

Today me and my affiliates practiced the 180 degree rule when we were shooting a conversation, we ended up coming to a conclusion that we weren't going to use it because we aren't really going to use dialogue in this movie

Editing plan

Special effects and graphics can give your amateur film a professional touch. Add text overlays for player introductions or statistics, and include motion graphics for transitions. Simple tools like Canva or Adobe Premiere Pro can help you create polished visuals with minimal effort.

BTS (behind the scenes)

Behind-the-scenes footage, such as player interviews, training sessions, and pre-game rituals, adds a personal touch to your film. Ask players and coaches about their challenges, motivations, and favorite moments. This humanizes the story and engages your audience emotionally.

Finding soundtracks

The right soundtrack can elevate your football film. Choose music that matches the tone of your story, whether it’s uplifting, dramatic, or intense. Incorporate ambient sounds, such as crowd noise and on-field chatter, to create a more immersive experience

First Shot Plan

Filming football action requires planning and timing. Use a mix of wide-angle shots to capture the entire field and close-ups to emphasize key moments, like tackles or touchdowns. Be sure to shoot from different angles, such as the sideline, end zone, and even higher vantage points for a dynamic perspective.

Gathering equipment with low budget

Amateur filmmakers don’t need expensive equipment to create great content. A good-quality smartphone, tripod, and external microphone can go a long way. If you have access to a DSLR camera, it’s even better for dynamic shots. Lighting tools like portable LED panels can enhance the visual quality without breaking the bank.

Pre production: finding locations

Preparation is key to a successful film. Begin by drafting a rough script or storyboard that outlines your scenes. Scout football fields, locker rooms, and practice spaces to find ideal filming locations. Pay attention to lighting, space, and sound during this stage, as they can greatly impact the quality of your shots.

Getting started

The first step to making an amateur football film is to define the purpose and style of your project. Are you creating a highlight reel, a narrative-driven documentary, or an inspirational story? Clearly defining your vision will guide your choices in filming, storytelling, and editing. Think about your target audience and the emotions you want to evoke.

Inspiration for my movie

The assignments that my media studies teacher gave to us gave me an inspiration to hand out to my group. The inspiration was that we can use many close up shots as we can of our characters legs due to the fact of how our movie won't consist much of dialogue and faces

Introduction to Media

Greetings! Welcome to the movie which is called "The Starz that Shine". My name is Alijah Pessoa and I am in the 10th grade at Piper High School and I take the class which is under the name of Media Studies, Level AS. The inspiration behind this short film is the Netflix show called All American which was released on the CW in 2018. I am working with one other person hoping to perfect my craft in acting and movie making. I am pleased to have you here with me in this journey! Thanks!
